    Biography

    Dr. Tshitereke Baldwin Matibe (born 19 November 1969) is the Chairperson of the ANC Vhembe Region and a seasoned leader with extensive experience in local and provincial government. He previously served as Deputy Speaker of the Limpopo Legislature, Mayor of Mutale Local Municipality, and Executive Mayor of the Vhembe District Municipality. Throughout his public service career, Dr. Matibe has contributed to governance, community development, and the advancement of socio-economic initiatives across the Vhembe region and Limpopo Province.

    MEC Dr. Tshitereke Baldwin Matibe is a seasoned leader of the African National Congress (ANC) in the Vhembe Region, having served as Regional Chairperson since 2012. He previously served as the Executive Mayor of the Vhembe District Municipality from 2012 to 2016, where he played a key role in advancing service delivery and development initiatives across the district

    In 2019, Dr. Matibe was elected as a Delegate to the National Council of Provinces (NCOP), a position he held until his deployment to the Limpopo Legislature in 2022. Following his swearing-in as a Member of the Limpopo Legislature, he was appointed Deputy Speaker of the Legislature in October 2022.

    Throughout his public service career, Dr. Matibe has demonstrated a strong commitment to governance, leadership, and the socio-economic development of Limpopo Province and the Vhembe region.

    MEC Dr. Tshitereke Baldwin Matibe obtained his academic qualifications from the University of Venda, where he earned a Bachelor of Arts in Education and a Master’s Degree in Public Management He further strengthened his leadership and management expertise through a Diploma in Education Management from the University of Pretoria and a Postgraduate Diploma in Public Management from Regenesys Business School.

    In 2026, Dr. Matibe attained a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in Public Administration, underscoring his commitment to lifelong learning, academic excellence, and effective public sector leadership.
